Elijah Hill Fiddle Tunes
Description
This collection consists of early 1960s home recordings of fiddle tunes played by Elijah Hill. They were provided in 2008 by his granddaughter Anne Sullivan of Connersville, Indiana. Elijah Hill was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky in 1888. He was a blacksmith and fiddler, both learned from his father, George William Hill. Elijah moved to Henry County, Indiana in the early 1930s where he spent the remainder of his life farming. Among fiddle contests he entered, the most notable was probably the 1953 Indiana state fair contest in which he won second place. He died in December 1967.
