John Masters (1904-1986) was an old-time fiddler from Fayette County, Kentucky He was an admirer of well known Madison County, Kentucky fiddler Doc Roberts, and later in life Masters performed with Doc Roberts' son, James (Carson) Roberts In addition to his performing at the Celebration of Traditional Music,, recordings of his playing are the John Harrod Collection in the Berea College Archives James Roberts (1918-2004) was a country music performer born in Madison County, Kentucky Between the ages of 10-16 he played in the Fiddlin' Doc Roberts Trio with his father and guitarist Asa Martin Using the name Carson, he and his then wife, Martha, were a popular radio and recording duet during the 1940s
