Jack "Jackie" Helton, from Magoffin County, Kentucky, learned old time mountain songs and tunes in his family tradition Under the tutelage of his father (Hassell Helton) and grandfather (Claude Helton), he started playing banjo at age 13 Forty years later, he began playing the fiddle Other family musical connections include his Aunt, banjoist Peachie Howard In recent times, Jackie was the winner in the Senior Division at the 2011 Ed Haley Fiddle Contest in Ashland, Kentucky Jesse Wells is a multi-instrumentalist and adjunct professor of traditional music at Morehead State University and education coordinator for Kentucky Center for Traditional Music
