Ballard "Pappy" Taylor (1908-1989), fiddler and banjoist, was born in Ashe County North Carolina, but spent a good portion of his adult life in Covington, (Kenton County) Kentucky He learned to play the fiddle as a child from blind fiddler GB Grayson From the 1930s-1950s he played in string bands and on the radio throughout the south as well as in Covington, Kentucky and Chicago, Illinois; mostly as his comic character 'Grandpa Nerit' Starting in the 1950s Pappy Taylor began playing with his brother Tommy in Kentucky Ballard and Tommy Taylor are accompanied here by Warren and Judy Waldrin
