Gospel sung by the Bluegrass Quintet of Richmond, Madison County, Kentucky, April 18, 1946 at the Renfro Valley Redbud Festival, Rockcastle County, Kentucky This and some of the other performances at the event were broadcast by radio station WHAS in Louisville, Kentucky Bascom Lamar Lunsford was the master of ceremonies
The Quintet consisted of African American [highschool] students from Richmond, Kentucky They were John Freeman, Elnor Hugh Black, George Miller, John Ballew, and Chester Kavanaugh The recording's spoken introduction references a "quartet" However local newspaper accounts and other recordings made at the time for the Library of Congress agree that the group was a quintet
